Excellent wok skills at Gusto Lingo!
Members of our weekly Gusto Lingo Cooking Club, which is run by the Food & Nutrition Department, have been learning how to make ‘fakeaway’ Honey Chilli Chicken.
The Chinese-inspired recipe used healthy ingredients and top quality natural honey, which was produced by bees owned by one of our English Teachers, Miss Adjei. Students learned how to prepare chicken and vegetables safely and hygienically, before going on to develop some impressive wok skills.
Although Gusto Lingo is not a new initiative at King James, this year will see it take a whole new approach to cooking, one which will allow students to learn much more about culture and cuisine from a host of countries around the world. Each session will be led by Food Teacher, Mr Blood, however he will be joined by a special ‘guest teacher’ each week who will share their favourite recipes from a different country, along with some interesting cultural facts to inspire students even further. This is an excellent way to promote cross-curricular learning!
