Hands-on learning in Computing

October 2025

Year 7 students have been learning about the structure of a computer in a hands-on lesson with Mrs Brown.

There is no better way to learn about the way computers are made than by examining the inner workings first hand, and so Maths and Computing Teacher, Mrs Brown arranged to have a desktop computer brought into class for students to dismantle and reassemble. By taking the hard drive apart and examining each individual element, students were able to gain a valuable insight into the structure. This proved to be a hugely popular lesson with students fully engaged in the task at hand.
