Employer engagement is a vital part of our careers programme and helps us ensure that students develop the skills, knowledge, and aspirations they need to succeed.

Our Careers Programme

Our careers programme supports students from Key Stage 3 through to Sixth Form and is designed in line with the Gatsby Benchmarks for Good Careers Guidance.

Employer encounters are carefully planned to:

  • Link learning to real careers and industries
  • Support curriculum understanding
  • Challenge stereotypes and broaden horizons
  • Prepare students for further education, training, and employment

 

How Employers Can Get Involved

We welcome employer involvement in a variety of ways, including:

  • Careers talks or assemblies
  • Curriculum-linked workshops
  • Participation in careers fairs
  • Mock interviews and employability days
  • Mentoring or coaching opportunities
  • Workplace visits
  • Work experience and work shadowing placements
  • Apprenticeship and training provider talks

Activities can be in person or virtual, and we are happy to discuss flexible options to suit your availability.

 

Who You Will Work With

Our employer encounters typically involve students aged 11–18, depending on the activity. We will always:

  • Clearly explain the age group and purpose of the activity
  • Prepare students in advance
  • Ensure staff are present to support and supervise

 

Safeguarding, Health & Safety

King James I Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.

We will:

  • Provide clear safeguarding guidance for all visitors
  • Advise on DBS requirements where appropriate
  • Ensure appropriate supervision during all activities
  • Support risk assessments and insurance requirements for workplace activities and work experience

Our team will guide employers through all necessary arrangements.
