Music students in Years 7-10 have taken part in the inaugural Young Musician of the Year competition at King James. The event, which was organised by Director of Learning for Music, Mr Smith, showcased some of the best talent in the Music department.

Students in Mr Wheatley’s Comic Book Club have visited Auckland Castle to hear some of the interesting but gruesome stories linked to our local area. Bishop Auckland has a strange and fascinating history, and our comic book creators were able to take inspiration from them.

As part of our 'Aim Higher' programme, a group of Key Stage 4 students have visited Teesside University with Mr Butters to take part in an event called 'Choose your Future'.

Year 11 students have raised £220 by taking part in a sponsored Colour Run. All money raised will go towards the Year 11 Prom in July.

Following the popularity and success of our previous Duke of Edinburgh programmes, over 40 students in Years 9 and 10 have signed up to complete the Bronze Award and some students have also progressed to Silver.

Students in Years 7 and 8 have enjoyed an inspiring live interactive theatre experience called 'Smashed', which raises awareness about the dangers of underage drinking. Sessions were delivered at King James by Mia, Jack and Isaac from the team at Collingwood Learning.

Key Stage 3 students have taken part in a fancy dress fun run around our 4G pitch to raise money for the forthcoming PE trip to Holland.
