Students explored the drift mine as part of the trip.
Media Studies students in Years 10 and 12 have visited Beamish Museum for the annual trip designed to give students the opportunity to see how setting, props, costume, hair and make-up are carefully chosen and combined to reflect a specific time period; this is an important aspect of media production called mise-en-scene.
Students identified how the museum had effectively used these techniques to create towns from different decades and this will help them to analyse TV shows and movie products for their coursework. This year, members of the Year 7 extra-curricular Photography Club also joined the trip to Beamish as a reward for their hard work throughout the year. It was also a great opportunity for them to take photographs.
In Media lessons, Year 10 students analyse a range of products from computer games and magazines to films and TV shows; whilst Year 11s develop practical skills in photography, journalism and graphic design as they create a magazine product. Sixth Formers also produce a magazine, specifically aimed at young adults, alongside film products and marketing campaigns.
