In Performing Arts, students in Years 12 and 13 have deconstructed the popular musical stage show and film, Little Shop of Horrors, as part of their combined arts production.
In the performance, students combined Drama and physical theatre skills with exciting, newly-developed talents including playing ukulele, roller skating and tap dancing. It was a beautiful, and haunting piece which focused on important topics such as capitalism, greed and toxic relationships, and the visiting examiner was hugely impressed by the creativity of the piece and by the groups ability to self-analyse and justify their method.
Miss Howard, Director for Learning for Drama and Performing Arts said, “The group worked incredibly hard to develop and perfect their performance so we were all delighted when the examiner said that the analysis was university level and that the interpretation was leading the way nationally in terms of performance. This is a very talented group of Sixth Form students and I am sure they have an exciting and successful future ahead of them.”
