In Drama, Year 9 students have been bringing the characters of Willy Russell's Blood Brothers to life.
Students studied the classic novel in English lessons in Year 8. The book explores the unbreakable bonds of family through the story of twin brothers, Mickey and Eddie who are separated at birth because their mother cannot afford to bring both of them up. One brother is subsequently raised in a wealthy family, enjoying a higher-class upbringing and lifestyle, whereas the other is raised in a very poor family. The book is an emotional exploration of two very different lives and how upbringing has impacted the lives and futures of the brothers. There is a tragic and heartbreaking chain of events when the brothers fall in love with the same girl.
Students delivered an outstanding interpretation of the book and the characters, communicating the tragedy and emotion of the narrative perfectly. The session showcased excellent work by some very talented young people.
