Bishop Auckland Town Council’s Youth Awards is designed to give recognition to outstanding young people in Bishop Auckland. This year, we are proud to announce that our students won four awards!
Guests were welcomed to Bishop Auckland Town Hall in red-carpet style by Mayor Sam Zair and Town Clerk, Sarah Harris, who greeted award winners and their families as they arrived. A total of 25 awards were presented on the evening - 19 individual awards and 6 group awards, all of which recognised the efforts of young people in areas such as community service, sports, the arts and personal achievement.
Year 8 student, Mick F was presented with the Overcoming Personal Difficulties Award; and our Year 10 Community Ambassadors won an award for their contributions to the artwork on Shildon Railway Bridge. Our Mental Health & Wellbeing Ambassadors were also honoured with the Biggest Impact Award for their dedicated work regarding mental health both in our school and the surrounding community. Former Sixth Former, Anthony C, received the WOW Award for his outstanding academic achievement in his A’ Levels; Anthony is now studying a Degree at Oxford University.
We also celebrated a number of runners-up in various categories and are incredibly proud of all nominees and winners.
