Teachers delivered lessons in a host of amazing costumes!

This year, our World Book Day celebration event was the best yet, with lessons delivered by teachers dressed as characters from their favourite books!

With Elizabeth Bennett in Maths, Miss Trunchbull in Geography, Hagrid in Science, Winnie the Pooh in Food & Nutrition and the Mad Hatter in the Library, teachers surprised students with their costumes. Miss Howard even spent the day teaching Drama and Performing Arts in head-to-toe green face paint as Elphaba.

As a fundraising event, students and staff made a donation to attend school in non school uniform and an amazing £1,010 was raised as a result. This was donated to If U Care Share, a local charity set up to provide a range of services fundamental to the prevention of suicide through support and intervention, plus the provision of support services for families bereaved by suicide.

Mr Wheatley, our Academy Librarian who organised the event said, "I like to plan a special event for World Book Day as promoting reading and literacy is really important to us at King James, but this year I wanted to fully capture the imagination of our students and this worked even better than expected! The fundraising element of the day was amazing and we are so proud to have been able to support such a worthy cause."
