King James I Academy recognises the central importance of attendance in the education and wellbeing of our students. Studies show that the better a young person’s attendance, the more likely it is that they will achieve well at GCSE. Children have the right to an education, and being around their teachers and their friends in a school environment is the best way for them to develop and learn, and to keep them safe. Whilst in school they are also able to access extra-curricular opportunities, and the pastoral care provided by staff.
Everyone plays their part in ensuring excellent attendance. We are committed to promoting attendance at school, reducing absence, including persistent and severe absence, and acting early to help students and their families to address attendance issues. Attendance is everyone’s responsibility.
For any questions please contact the academy or refer to our Attendance policy.

All students with 95% attendance are invited to the movie afternoon with a movie and popcorn. Finally, “The Big One” Students with 100% attendance each week are given a raffle ticket, their raffle tickets are placed into the drum, at the end of the summer term one lucky winner will win the choice of a PS5, bike, £300 JD voucher or an Ipad.
