Attendance Matters

King James I Academy recognises the central importance of attendance in the education and wellbeing of our students. Studies show that the better a young person’s attendance, the more likely it is that they will achieve well at GCSE. Children have the right to an education, and being around their teachers and their friends in a school environment is the best way for them to develop and learn, and to keep them safe. Whilst in school they are also able to access extra-curricular opportunities, and the pastoral care provided by staff.

Everyone plays their part in ensuring excellent attendance. We are committed to promoting attendance at school, reducing absence, including persistent and severe absence, and acting early to help students and their families to address attendance issues. Attendance is everyone’s responsibility.

For any questions please contact the academy or refer to our Attendance policy.

A message for our students

Did you know that success in school begins with simply showing up? Every single day you attend, you're making an investment in yourself and your future. School isn't just about lessons; it's where you:

  • Build skills for life.

  • Discover new possibilities and broaden your horizons.

  • Develop discipline and responsibility, traits essential for success in any endeavor.

  • Connect with friends and teachers in a supportive community.

Your education is the most powerful tool you have to change the world and achieve your dreams. Don't miss out on the opportunities waiting for you.

Show up, be present, and make it count!  "EVERY DAY MATTERS"
