In Design & Technology lessons, Year 7 students are working on a practical project to design and then produce packing for chocolates.
Design & Technology teaches students how to design and make products to solve real-world problems. It is an extremely practical subject, but one which encourages creativity and imagination, and helps students to develop a wide range of skills and knowledge. Students cover a wide range of topics including working with a variety of materials such as food, metals, plastics, and electronics; designing and making structures like bridges and towers; learning about levers, pulleys and gears; and exploring energy sources like solar, wind, hydropower, and gas. They also look at how things are made in factories and how textiles are produced.
The subject helps students develop a critical understanding of how design and technology impacts the world around them whilst building skills that can be applied across other subjects such as mathematics, science, computing and art.
