EE were just one of the national organisations that attended the event.

With visitors from a wide range of national and local businesses and organisations, our annual Careers Fair at King James was a huge success.

The event, which took place throughout the day, gave students in all year groups the opportunity to speak to representatives from a diverse selection of industries, from Engineering and Law to Healthcare and Communications. This was an excellent way to help students begin thinking about what industry they might like to enter as a career, and to focus on the GCSE and A' Level qualifications they will need to achieve in order to reach their goal.

Students were keen to discover more about the increasing number of Apprenticeship opportunities that are offered by local employers and many received excellent advice on how to make their application stand out from the crowd in such a competitive market.

This year, more Colleges and Universities than ever took part in the event and students were impressed by the wide choice of modern courses on offer. By discussing individual strengths and preferences with pupils, representatives were able to suggest courses that may be of interest and advise them on the careers that they could pursue with specialist qualifications.

As is usual, students were keen to talk to representatives from the Army, Navy and RAF about the different job roles in the forces; they also learned about the entry requirements and the personal qualities that Recruitment Officers look for when assessing applications.

We would like to thank the following organisations for their support: The Army, The Royal Navy, New College Durham, Bishop Auckland College, South West Durham Training, Darlington College, East Durham College, GSK, Livin, Itec, EE, Teesside University, Sunderland University, Northumbria University, Newcastle University, Gestamp Tallent, Hydram Engineering, Cleveland College of Art and Design, Ethicare, C&A Roofing, Civil Service, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Job Centre Plus, National Citizen Service, Bond Dickinson, The RAF, Hathaway Roofing, Ulster University and Durham University.
